Engineer sent to jail for bribery
Executive Engineer Abdul Munim of National Housing Authority (NHA) under the Public Works Department arrested Monday for allegedly taking Tk 5,000 bribe from a contractor at his office was sent to jail at night.
Contractor Nazrul Islam Shahan hailing from the city's Hatimbag area was given a work under a new housing project at Moulvibazar town.
He went to the office of the executive engineer on Monday. The engineer was arrested by joint forces when the contractor handed over to him Tk 5,000 to get the award letter, police said.

The engineer was produced before Sylhet Cognizance Court No. 1 Monday night. The court sent him to jail.
