Ensure 5 pc tribal quota in higher edn instts
The Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), a student body aligned with PCJSS (Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Parishad), brought out a procession in the town on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the education minister through the Deputy Commissioner to ensure five per cent tribal quota in all higher educational institutions, as provided under the CHT peace accord signed in 1997.
The memorandum also contained other demands. These include a separate education board for CHT, introduction of Honours and Masters courses at the three government colleges at Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban and correction of "distorted information about history and culture of indigenous people printed in text books".
The memorandum was submitted to Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Gazi Mohammed Zulhash.
