Ex Civil Surgeon of Madaripur among 7 face grant case

The former Civil Surgeon of Madaripur, the Health Director and five other officials face graft cases for alleged corruption in recruiting a health assistant.

Mahmuda Aktar has filed the case (no 104/2004 dated 20/10/04) with an Assistant Judge's court in Shibchar upazila.

The accused include former Civil Surgeon Sajeda Begum, Health Director Dr Kaniz Fatema, Selina Akter a newly appointed health assistant in Matbarer Char union in Shibchar.

The plaintiff alleged that her name was in the waiting list for appointment under freedom fighter's quota after interview and written test. But Selina Akter was appointed after alleged corruption.

In the case she also prayed for injunction on posting of Selina Akter till settlement of the case.

Civil Surgeon Sajeda Begum has been transferred to another district.

Mentionably, the Jatyotabadi Chhatra Dal brought out a procession earlier protesting the alleged irregularity in the recruitment.

While contacted, Civil Surgeon Dr Sajjad Hossain said he can not say anything about the alleged irregularities because he was not in charge during the recruitment.
