Jamaat responsible for Plabon's murder, BNP leaders claim

Plabon got GPA-5 in this year's SSC examination but he was killed during a clash between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami before the results were published.

BNP leaders at a press conference at Gaibandha Press Club said Jamaat-Shibir is responsible for Plabon's death but they are blaming BNP for this.

In a written statement read out at the press conference, they said on June 13 a chase and counter-chase took place between activists of BNP and Jamaat at Palashbari Upazila.

Plabon and five BNP activists were injured when Shibir activists attacked the BNP office. They (Jamaat-Shibir) also tore down portraits of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and BNP leader Tarique Rahman

Plabon died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital next day.

Plabon's father filed a case against some BNP-JCD activists at the instigation of a Jamaat leader, they claimed.

The press conference was addressed by Palashbari BNP Secretary Ziaul Hoq Jewel and some other party leaders.

They alleged that some "identified terrorists" who are now Jamaat members are creating anarchy in Palahbari. They filed the case to tarnish the image of BNP, Jewel alleged.
