Journos sued in Satkhira

Complainant Abdul Mazid of Shyamnagar upazila filed the case with the court of First Class Magistrate Saidur Rahman accusing Gramer Kagoj Editorial Board President Sheikh Afeel Uddin, Editor and Publisher Mobinul Islam Mobin and its Satkhira correspondent Kazi Dulal for the report published on July 31, which said he was involved in deed forgery.

The court after hearing asked Shyamnagar thana Officer -in-Charge Kanchan Mahmud to inquire into the matter and submit a report.

Local journalists and political leaders in separate press statements protested filing of the false case filed against the journalists and demanded its withdrawal. Signatories to the statements are Satkhira district Awami League President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and general secretary Md. Nazrul Islam, journalist leaders Prof. Abu Ahmed of The Daily Star, Ramkrishna Chakraborty of Samakal, Manirul Islam Mini of Ittefaq, Sheikh Abdul Wazed Kachi of Inqilab, Habibur Rahman of Sangbad, Mozaffar Rahman of Janmabhumi, Mostafizur Rahman of Purbanchal, Rezaul Islam of Khabarpatra and Abdul Wahab of Samachar.
