Patients are leaving the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) due to an indefinite strike by interns and hospital staff since Thursday noon.

They called the strike protesting attack on six doctors and nurses by the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists and some students after death of a BL College student, Mizanur Rahman. He was rushed to the hospital after a road accident at Daulatpur on Wednesday night. The attackers went on rampage and damaged the hospital property also.

The striking doctors and staff demanded punishment to the culprits and adequate security measures during duty hours.

'Patients are leaving the hospital not for lack of treatment, but for lack of security', the strikers said.

They also alleged police inaction to nab the attackers.
