Wife beaten to Death for dowry

Quoting local people police said, Monjuara Khatun, 23, was killed by her husband Safiqul Islam for failing to manage dowry of Tk 5,000 from her mother.

Safiqul, son of Sahiluddin of Brahmmarajpur village took Tk. 25,000 as dowry during his marriage with Monjuara, daughter of late Bhola Sardar of Raispur village in Sadar upazila a few years ago, locals said. Recently he was pressing for the rest of the amount.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to morgue for autopsy. They arrested Safiqul's father Sahil Uddin and mother Ayesha Khatun, but the accused fled away.
