Bulkhead-launch collision: Missing worker’s body recovered after 64 hours
The body of a missing bulkhead worker was recovered today by Fire Service divers and naval police from Meghna river this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Md Motaleb Mizi (55), who used to work as a sukani (crew member) in the bulkhead, reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Uday Babu, sub-inspector of Kalagachia River Police in Munshiganj..
The bulkhead sank in the river after a head-on-collision with a launch on Wednesday.
The crew member's body was found in Meghna river near the Munshiganj border in Char Kishoreganj area of Narayanganj at 3pm today -- 64 hours after it went missing, said the SI.
"A four-member diving team from Dhaka Fire Service's Siddique Bazar unit began a rescue operation on the Meghna River at 10am on Thursday. After an autopsy, the body will be returned to the family," he said.
