Fire at Faridpur jute mill brought under control after nearly 3hrs

A fire that broke out at a jute mill in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur this afternoon has been brought under control.

A fire that broke out at a jute mill in Boalmari upazila of Faridpur this afternoon has been brought under control.

The fire broke out at Janata Jute Mill in Dobra area around 1:45pm, said Nazrul Islam, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Faridpur.

On information, nine fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 5pm, the official told our Faridpur correspondent.

Rezaul Islam, manger of the jute mill, said the fire originated from the no-3 unit of the mill and soon spread to the full unit.

The extent of losses from the fire could go up to Tk 60 crore, added the manager.
