Fire on launch: 2 injured admitted to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute

A woman and her eight-year-old son who sustained burn injuries in the MV Abhijan-10 fire were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery his afternoon.

A woman and her eight-year-old son who sustained burn injuries in the MV Abhijan-10 fire were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery his afternoon.

Jiasmin (35) received 30 percent burn injuries and her son Tamim received 10 percent injuries, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of the institute told The Daily Star.

Mahmud Mamun, Jiasmin's brother said his sister along with Tamim and daughter Mahinur (6) were being brought to Dhaka and on the way Mahinur succumbed to her injuries. 

"Jiasmin and children came to Dhaka for attending the funeral of her grandmother in Keraniganj. They were going back to their house in Barguna," Mamun said.

At least 35 people were killed after a fire broke out on the MV Abhijan-10 launch on the Sugandha River near Jhalakathi Sadar upazila early today.
