67-year-old man arrested on charge of raping teenager in Netrokona

Police last night arrested a man on the charge of raping a 16-year-old girl in the Netrokona municipality area.

Abdul Hamid, 67, was arrested from his residence at Newaznagar late last night during a raid conducted by a police team led by Netrokona Model Police Station's Sub-inspector Md Mojibur Rahman.

Kazi Shahnewaz, officer-in-charge of the police station, said that the victim's mother filed a case accusing Hamid on March 17 under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act-2000.

According to the case statement, the mentally challenged girl was taken to an abandoned house behind a shop, where she was raped around 11:00am on March 10.
