The judicial commission, formed to probe the deaths in violence centring the quota protests, will begin visiting the flashpoints of clashes as soon as the situation improves.

Led by Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman, a High Court judge, the commission is now formulating its plan of action in order to properly conduct the inquiry into the violence, a source close to the commission told The Daily Star yesterday.

"The commission will work as per the relevant terms of condition," according to the source.

The source, however, did not clarify whether the commission will probe all deaths since the violence broke out or only the deaths of six people on July 16.

On July 18, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain issued a notification saying that the commission will learn the reasons behind the deaths of six persons on July 16 and identify the persons responsible for the deaths and recent incidents of violence.

The commission was asked to submit its probe report to the government within 30 working days.

Meanwhile, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday said it expects the commission to unearth the reasons behind the death of each and every student and the government to take necessary legal steps against those responsible as per the recommendations of the commission.
