Four, including ex-MP Jakob and ex-police chief Mamun, sent on remand

A Dhaka court placed Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, former lawmaker from Bhola-4 constituency; Nobi Newaz, former lawmaker of Jhenaidah-3 constituency; former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Abul Hasan, former officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station, on different terms of remand today in connection with three cases linked to the July uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Minhazur Rahman passed sperate orders in their respective cases after they were produced before the court with remand prayers, said court staffers.

Jakob was put on a three-day remand in an attempted murder case filed with Vatara Police Station, while Nobi was placed on a five-day remand in a case filed with Ramna Police Station over the murder of domestic help Liza Akter.

Meanwhile, former police chief Mamun was placed on a three-day remand in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station, while former OC Abul Hasan were placed a five-day remand in the same case.
