A mobile court in Gazipur yesterday sentenced a man to six months in jail on drug-related charges, after his wife accused him of forcing her into drug dealing and prostitution.

The convict, Kamal Uddin, 40, was arrested following a complaint filed by his wife with Sreepur Police Station.

The same court also sentenced his accomplice, Manik Mia, 30, to three months' imprisonment for drug consumption, said Sreepur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sajeeb Ahmed.

According to the victim's complaint, Kamal had been involved in the drug trade since they got married and repeatedly pressured her to sell drugs and engage in prostitution to fund his addiction. She alleged that he physically abused her whenever she refused and often forced her to take drugs.
