A High Court bench today refused to hear a bail petition filed by Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed, a donor member of the governing body of Ideal School and College, in a case filed on charges of raping and forcibly marrying a female student.

The bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman also returned the bail petition to Mushtaq's lawyer and told him (Mushtaq) that "Ethically, you have not done right".

The bench asked Mushtaq whether he is married or not. Mushtaq said he got separated from his previous wife.

Mushtaq's lawyer Sohrab Hossain told the court that the student is an adult and his client has married her.

The HC bench said it is not inclined to hear the petition.

On August 1, the student's father filed the case against Mushtaq and college principal.

He said in the case that his daughter is an eleventh grader. Mushtaq used to come to the college on various pretexts and called his daughter from the class to the principal's room.

Mushtaq also threatened to pick her up and forcibly marry her when she refused to meet him. He also threatened her family.

The student also requested the college principal to take action against Mushtaq for his behaviour but to no avail.

Later, Mushtaq forcibly picked up her and married her, according to the case statement.
