RU student files complaint after being sexually assaulted

A third-year student of Rajshahi University (RU) was sexually assaulted at Rajshahi city this morning.

The incident occurred around 8am in the city's Bashar Road area, when the student was on her way to give private tuitions. She has lodged a written complaint with the university authorities seeking justice, said RU Proctor Prof Ashabul Haque.

"It was early morning and was raining, the road was completely empty and I was walking on my way to a private class. Suddenly, a man, around 25-26 years old held me from the back and started to sexually assault me. He ran away when I started shouting," the victim told The Daily Star.

"I don't know him personally, but he seemed to be a local. But I can clearly identify the man," she said.

She also said that she will file a case in this regard.

Proctor Prof Ashabul Haque said, "We received a complaint letter regarding the incident and from our end we will assist her to get legal help."
