Woman’s bullet-hit body found on highway

The bullet-hit body of a young woman was recovered from Dhaka-Mawa highway in Munshiganj's Srinagar upazila yesterday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Saheda Begum, 22, of Barian Begunbari in Mymensingh.

However, she lived in a rented house with her mother and brother in the capital's Wari.

Locals spotted the body on the Dogachi service lane around 7:00am. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Srinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Qaiyum Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the body recovery.

Five bullet shells were recovered from next to the body, the OC said.

He said her identity was confirmed using her mobile phone.

Later, her brother was called and informed.

Her mother and brother had come to Srinagar Police Station a while ago, he said.

According to the mother, the Shaheda worked as a domestic help.

The body of the deceased has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
