11 detained for trespassing into Gazipur Safari Park

Police have detained 11 people for trespassing into the Gazipur Safari Park in Sreepur early Saturday.

The detainees are Sajal Mridha, 27, Fahim Mia, 21, Shakib Mia, 23, Hafizur Islam, 21, Yakub Ali, 17, Omar Faruk, 18, Rakib Hossain Rocky, 23, Abdul Qayyum Mia, 17, Rifat Mia, 21, Ismail, 19, and Shahidul Islam, 25.

Safari Park Officer-in-Charge Tarique Rahman said the suspects were found roaming inside the park around 3:00am and detained on suspicion of theft, as several animals had previously been stolen from the facility.

They were later handed over to police by Forester Anisur Rahman.

Sreepur Police Station OC Mohammad Abdul Barik said the 11 are being held at the police station and a case will be filed based on the park authority's complaint.
