Impact Foundation launches JibonMela Academy for nurses in Meherpur
Impact Foundation Bangladesh, a national charitable organisation established in 1993, inaugurated the seven-storied state-of-the-art Impact Nursing Institute in Meherpur Sadar.
The new building has been constructed with the support of the Lutz and Hedda Franz Charitable Trust (LHFCT), Hong Kong, and the IMPACT Foundation UK (UKIF) in the Chandbil area of Amjhupi union.
The inaugural ceremony took place at the auditorium of the Jibon Mela Academy building.
Lutz Michael Franz, chairman of LHFCT, and Hedwig Franz, trustee, LHFCT, were present as chief guests at the event presided over by Dr Rezaul Haque, chairman and founder trustee of IFB.
LHFCT trustees Christopher Lavender and Rene Hodel were present at the inauguration.
Impact Nursing Institute started its journey in 2014 to provide educational opportunities to marginalised girls to become skilled nurses and contributed 170 diploma nurses to the health sector of Bangladesh.
At present 158 students, mostly from low-income families, are enrolled at the institute. Most students pay subsidised fees while scholarships are given to students who cannot afford the tuition.
