Journalist Mostafigur Rahman’s solo photography exhibition opens in NY
Bangladeshi photojournalist Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman, popularly known as Mustafiz Mamun, has launched his third solo exhibition in New York.
Marking the International Day of Peace, the show features 40 images highlighting Bangladesh's harmony, resilience, and natural beauty.
The week-long exhibition, organised by non-profit organisation Save the People in association with the United Nations Association of USA–Queens Chapter, the Peace Center of USA, and the Interfaith Center of USA, opened on Saturday evening at the Save the People Auditorium in Jamaica.
The inauguration was attended by community leaders, cultural figures, and photojournalists, including Aftab Uddin Mannan, general secretary of Jamaica Muslim Centre; Fakhrul Islam Delowar, NYC Community Board member and president of the Bangladesh-Jamaica Friendship Society; Muhammad Shahidullah, CEO of Save the People; and New York-based photojournalists Jay Mandal, Sanaul Haque, and Khorshed Alam.
Visiting photojournalists from Dhaka and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora also joined.
The exhibition features 40 photographs that depict the peace embedded in Bangladesh's lifestyles, cultural traditions, and natural landscapes.
"Each of these pictures is a short story, reflecting harmony, resilience, and hope," Mostafigur said.
"Peace is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the presence of justice, dignity, and human compassion. On this International Day of Peace, I hope my photographs serve as a reminder of that message," he added.
The exhibition will remain open to the public daily from 5:00pm to 9:00pm until September 27. A closing ceremony will be held on September 26 at the Save the People Auditorium.
Organisers said the initiative aims to present a peaceful image of Bangladesh to the Bangladeshi diaspora in New York and to visitors from across the world.
