Two new graffiti artworks, titled July Birotto (July valour) and July Atyatyag (July sacrifice), were inaugurated today at the mural squares on both ends of the Padma Bridge to commemorate the martyrs of the July uprising.

The unveiling ceremony was held at 3:00pm at the Mawa end of the bridge. Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended the event as chief guest.

"I pay deep tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War and to those who sacrificed their lives during the July uprising. I pray for the salvation of their souls and express sympathy to their families," Jahangir said at the event.

He added that the murals, painted ahead of the July Uprising and Youth Festival 2025, were more than just art pieces.

"These graffiti works are an attempt to convey history to the new generation. July Birotto and July Atyatyag will remind us of the youth who gave their lives for freedom and democracy," he said.

"The July uprising was not merely a movement, but a struggle against injustice and for truth and justice. This generation must pass this on to the next. It gave the nation a new direction, and I believe initiatives like this will inspire people," he added.
