Rucsu polls: Classes suspended on September 24, 25

Rajshahi University (RU) will suspend all academic activities on September 24 and 25 to facilitate the upcoming elections for the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (Rucsu), hall unions, and student representatives to the university senate, officials said today.

The decision was confirmed over the phone by Prof Iftekharul Alam Masud, registrar of the university.

"Since the polling will be held in every academic building, it will not be possible to continue academic activities on those two days -- September 24 for preparations and September 25 for voting," said Prof Masud.

Earlier on August 26, following students' demands, the election commission decided to shift the polling centres from residential halls to academic buildings. Voting will take place in all academic buildings from 9:00am to 4:00pm on September 25, with counting and results announcement scheduled on the same day.
