Law Minister Anisul Huq today said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's jail term was suspended on conditions that she will not be able to go abroad and receive treatment from home.

Law Minister Anisul Huq today said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's jail term was suspended on conditions that she will not be able to go abroad and receive treatment from home.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina suspended Khaleda's jail term and released her on two conditions as she is ill. One condition is that she cannot go abroad and the other is she will receive treatment at home, the minister said at a programme at Akhaura of Brahmanbaria.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a blanket distribution programme at Advocate Sirajul Huq municipality ground organised by Akhaura Municipality unit of Awami League.

"We did not say that she can't go to the hospital," the minister said adding "Remember that humanity cannot be achieved through movement."

"The law will take its own course," he said.

Anisul on December  5 said the government was looking for a legal scope to allow Khaleda Zia's medical treatment abroad.

"Two applications for allowing Khaleda Zia to go abroad have been rejected earlier. Now, we are examining whether there is any scope in this regard. A decision would be taken examining all the aspects so that the law is not violated," he said at the time.
