No ‘green signal’ given to any candidate: Rizvi
No candidate has been given the "green signal" in any constituency for the upcoming national election, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said today.
At a press conference, Rizvi said BNP has made all-out preparations for the upcoming national parliamentary election. "At the appropriate time, through the party's designated process, qualified and -- above all -- popular individuals who are accepted by the people will be selected after proper scrutiny and their names will be announced," he said.
He alleged that some media outlets and social media platforms were publishing so-called nomination lists of BNP to create "confusion, dissatisfaction, and disorder" among the party's leaders and activists.
Rizvi said BNP nominations are given "on the basis of performance in various activities" and through the party's own structural process, not by any so-called "green signal".
He added that the party's parliamentary board, consisting of members of the standing committee and chaired by the BNP chairperson, will finalise the nominations for the upcoming election.
Rizvi urged party activists across the country not to be misled by "fabricated news published in newspapers" after the announcement of the polls schedule, unless it comes from the party's acting chairman.
Referring to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's virtual communication with grassroots activists, Rizvi said, "He is not giving any green signal. Rather, he is giving specific and proper instructions to work in a united manner in every constituency."
