BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today expressed hope that political parties who did not sign the July Charter would do so in the future.

"Everyone has signed the July Charter. The two or three who haven't yet, I hope they will also sign it in the future. That option has been kept open," he told reporters after the signing ceremony at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.

Thanking the chief adviser and all members of the National Consensus Commission, Salahuddin said, "The July National Charter 2025 has been signed. This is a memorable day in the history of this nation. This day will be remembered as long as the history of Bangladesh exists."

"Today marks the beginning of honouring the sacrifices of the martyrs, their blood, the nation's hopes, and the people's expectations. This is a journey," he said.

"Through its implementation, we will be able to achieve a democratic and reformed state structure. Strong democratic and constitutional institutions will be built," he added.

Responding to a question regarding the chief adviser's call for further talks to discuss the election process, the BNP leader said, "Constitutionally, Article 65 (2) states that the National Parliament of Bangladesh shall be formed with 300 members elected directly from each regional constituency through direct voting. The way the Election Commission will conduct the election is already described there."

"Even then, if the chief adviser wants to discuss, we believe in discussion," he added.

Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said a new chapter began in Bangladesh's political history through the signing of the July Charter.
