Unpaid restaurant bill: Probe body formed against Cox's Bazar BCL leader

A four-member probe body has been formed to investigate allegations against Cox's Bazar BCL General Secretary Maruf Adnan, accused of not settling a restaurant bill amounting to Tk 3 lakh.

Central BCL Vice Presidents Khadimul Bashar Joy, Rabiul Hasan Rana, Deputy Education and Curriculum Affairs Secretary Sahidul Islam Shakeel, and Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary Ahsan Habib Sajib are the members of the body.

Shahab Uddin, owner of a restaurant at Kolatoli More in Cox's Bazar filed a complaint against Maruf Adnan and six others with Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station on September 27, accusing Maruf and his cohorts had not paid bills for the last seven months.

When they asked for the arrears, Maruf beat him, his father, and restaurant staffers, the complaint added.

Md Rakibuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station said, "CCTV footage of the incident has been collected. If allegations are proven, legal actions will be taken against the accused."
