Govt to pay Covid test fee for UAE-bound workers

Expatriates Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed today said that the ministry will pay the Covid-19 RT-PCR test fee -- of Tk 1,600 -- for each United Arab Emirates (UAE)-bound worker.

Expatriates Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed today said that the ministry will pay the Covid-19 RT-PCR test fee -- of Tk 1,600 -- for each United Arab Emirates (UAE)-bound worker.

He made the remark at a views exchange meeting with Bangladeshi expatriates at the Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE today.

The minister said, "Expatriate workers are 'remittance warriors' of our country. Their contribution to the country's economy is undeniable. The government is also working to ensure their welfare."

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi addressed the meeting as a special guest.
