11 brick kilns fined in Dhamrai

A mobile court in Dhaka's Dhamrai fined 11 brick kilns Tk 52 lakhs today for running business without licences and not having legal documents.

Executive magistrate Kazi Tamzid Ahmed of the Department of Environment (DoE) said the mobile court conducted the daylong drive in Sombhag area under Dhamrai and imposed the fine.

During the drive, Amena brick kiln was fined Tk 20 lakh while Iyrin brick kiln Tk two lakh, Laki brick kiln Tk three lakh, Kalampur brick kiln Tk five lakh, ARM brick kiln Tk six lakh, SB-1 and-2 brick kilns Tk two lakh, Padma brick kiln Tk six lakh, Noor brick kiln Tk one lakh, Faruk brick kiln Tk one lakh and Hossain brick kiln Tk six lakh, reports our Savar correspondent.

"The brick kiln owners are illegally operating those without thinking about the environment. During today's operation, 11 brick kilns were fined Tk 52 lakh and some brick kilns were demolished" said Executive Magistrate Kazi Tamzid Ahmed while talking to reporters after the drive.
