12th Best Brand Award honours most loved brands of Bangladesh

To honour the most loved brands of Bangladesh, the 12th edition of Best Brand Award Bangladesh was held yesterday. Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) powered by AIUB, in partnership with Nielsen Bangladesh and in association with The Daily Star, for the first time has put together the event virtually.

To inspire the brands of the country, Bangladesh Brand Forum has been honouring the most loved brands through Best Brand Award for the last 12 years. The objective of the Best Brand Award is to demonstrate and celebrate the success of the brands, achieved through tough and effortful initiatives. This year, the best brands were selected in 37 categories and the award also recognized overall top 15 brands of the country, according to a press release.

Best Brand Award started its journey with Nielsen Bangladesh in 2008 based on a global model (Winning BrandsTM) done through a direct consumer survey of 7600 consumers across the country which included self administrated reviews.

The award-giving ceremony started with the welcome speech of Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Director, Bangladesh Brand Forum, President, Women in Leadership (WIL), and Founder, Bangladesh Creative Forum at the opening ceremony of the event. She said, "To be really edgy, local brands need to delve in our cultural dimension by understanding the psyche of evolving Bangladesh strong brands has to immerse with science and arts. Only then brands will be sustainable because it is about striking emotional chords with functionality."

Prashant Kolleri, leader – Customized Intelligence, Nielsen South Asia, gave a detailed speech to describe the Methodology of Best Brand Award 2019.

The 12th edition of the Best Brand Award kicked off shortly after the closing ceremony of "Brandfest - The Next Bangladesh", the country's largest brand and marketing festival. Note that, the last day of the 3-day-long "Brandfest - 2020" was focused on Bangladesh - from a policy making area, as a brand and how can we engage on our 50th year of Independence with a more structured and reformed manner.

Bangladesh as a nation has always strived to have a keen progression towards development. Development which will ease the access to a better economy, increase the modality of the standard of living and also fast pace the current development quo. Branding a country and influencing policy frame work requires an open discussion between the policy makers and business leaders these two discussions will create a bridge to construct plausible strategies to brand the country and introduce policies that will benefit both the country and the overall economy. Discussions by national and international expaartss at the 3-day "Brandfest 2020" provided some background depth on the context and nature of nation branding by awaking our mass and making responsible groups to come forward for an unbeaten nation branding for Bangladesh by taking Bangladesh to the next level.

Congratulating Bangladesh Brand Forum for the event, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Private Sector & Investment, Salman Fazlur Rahman, MP said, "As we are preparing to welcome 2021, I urge everyone to give their best at advancing their personal journey, but also actively play their individual role in taking the nation forward".

A total of 105 brands were recognized across 37 categories. In the overall top 15 brands rank, bKash won the status of the number one brand. Closeup and Ispahani secured the second and third places in the overall best brands rank.
