218 police personnel infected with Covid-19 in Bangladesh so far

A total of 218 members of police have tested positive for Covid-19 across the country while discharging their duties, according to a tally of Police Headquarters.

Police personnels have been working on the frontlines to ensure social distancing in cities and towns across the country and has been enforcing the nationwide shutdown as per the government's instructions. 

As a result, they have been exposed to potential carriers of the virus themselves. 

Besides, 652 more police personnel, who are suspected to be in contact with those who tested positive, are in quarantine, said Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (Media) of Police Headquarters.
