Abducted school student rescued from Ctg, abductor arrested

Police have rescued a school student -- who was abducted from Dharla River shoal area of Banagram village under Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on December 16 -- from a house in Chattogram last night.

Police also arrested the abductor Shakil Ahmed (18), son of Nurnabi Miah of the same area of Lalmonirhat, Mrigendra Nath, sub-inspector of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, confirmed to The Daily Star.

SI Mrigendra said Shakil took the schoolgirl to a relative's house in Chattogram after the abduction on December 16.

Police found the whereabouts of the abductor and later rescued the schoolgirl and arrested the accused, the SI said.

Meanwhile, another schoolgirl, who was abducted on November 13 from Teesta River soal area, was yet to be rescued.

Family members alleged that Manowarul Islam of the same area abducted their daughter and expressed their dismay as the law enforcement agencies are yet to rescue their daughter and arrest the culprit. 

Attempts are on to rescue the schoolgirl and nab the prime accused, police said.
