Baby born with two heads dies in Dhaka

A baby girl born with two heads died in Dhaka last night.

Dr Ayesha Siddiqui, a medical officer of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) emergency unit confirmed the death to The Daily Star.

"She was dead when she was brought here," said Ayesha Siddiqui.

The relatives of the baby took her to the DMCH around 8:00pm, said the doctor.

The baby's father Palash Mollah said she was born through Cesarean section at Jahan Private Hospital in Magura town yesterday afternoon.

Later, the newborn baby was admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital from where the baby along with mother Sonali Khatun was taken to the DMCH, said Palash.

Sonali was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH) two weeks earlier as per the suggestion of a local doctor who thought that there were complications.

"The FMCH gynecology and obstetrics department advised Sonali to be brought to the hospital after six weeks. But her physical condition suddenly deteriorated yesterday," added Palash.
