BYLC Career Bootcamp 2020 to be held Nov 21-Dec 19
With a vision to prepare the youth against any and every kind of crisis, BYLC is organising a month-long Career Bootcamp from November 21 to December 19, 2020.
In the bootcamp, graduating students will be trained on professional development traits such as learning and innovation skills, digital literacy skills, and career and life skills, by renowned industry experts of the country, says a press release.
This will enable participants to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving aspects, to help them become coherent and effective communicators, and to be data-driven for decision making, and hence attain the advantages of utilising adaptive leadership in the community.
Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, graduates lacked relevant skills valued by employers and were not fully aware of the labour market reality and job search options to make most sensible career decisions. The pandemic has also now increased the importance of technological adoption in manifolds and this has given rise to a whole new set of essential skills.
BYLC had collaborated with Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) in a survey on total 865 youths aged between 18–35 years from different socio-economic backgrounds across Bangladesh to extract critical findings from the respondents directly. The survey revealed that our youths are unfortunately still not anticipating the importance of learning such skills. To strive and thrive in the post-Covid-19 job market, youths need to be trained on skills such as agility, leading virtually, adaptability, resilience, working remotely, emotional intelligence, data analytics, big data, digital marketing, and cloud computing.
Furthermore, the pandemic has made it difficult for the young entrepreneurs with small businesses to operate in the competitive business landscape of the country. Even though some start-ups in some industries were successful in navigating the situation, young entrepreneurs with very limited resources suffered the most.
To encompass the pressing demand of these emerging skills, the bootcamp has been structured in a manner which will effectively cover essential topics pertinent for the modern workplace, including communications, management, operations, design-thinking, and business case-solving.
The sessions will be led by industry experts and will focus on aspects of early career planning, building effective job site profiles, drafting in-depth resumes that stand out, becoming impactful business communicators, developing persistence in the workplace, and significantly, acknowledging the power that lies in one's personal leadership.
The speakers for the bootcamp session will include: Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone; Abrar Anwar, Managing Director & CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Malaysia; Don Sumdany, Chief Inspirational Officer at Don Sumdany Facilitation and Managing Director at Ikigai HR Services Ltd; Mehad Ul Haque, Senior Business Consultant, Country Coordinator at Biniyog Briddhi, LightCastle Partners; Shammi Quddus, Product Manager, Google Payments Platform; and some HR heads of renowned companies, among others.
Upon completion of the Career Bootcamp 2020, participants would receive exclusive job opportunities from BYLC's vast employer network and would receive one-on-one mentoring from industry leaders to make professional connections for enhancing their career prospects, and also become a member of an exclusive BYLC alumni pool.
The benefits and facilities of BYLC alumni include leadership and professional development counselling, mentoring, networking, job placement opportunities and many more.
All of these can be availed at any stage in their professional lives and are provided free of charge.
BYLC Career Bootcamp 2020 will be followed by a two-day career fair on December 27-28 to provide career placement and networking opportunities to the participants.
The deadline for registering for the bootcamp is November 15. Participants will have to pay a programme fee of Tk 3,000.
