Campaign going on to make police force free of corruption: IGP Benazir Ahmed
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed said that a campaign is going on to make the police force free of corruption.
"Strict action will be taken against members of police if they commit any misconduct. Our attitude in this regard is very strict," said the police chief.
The police chief was speaking as the chief guest at the "Annual General Meeting-2020" organised by the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) at Segunbagicha in the capital today.
"If there is a drug addict in the police, he is being expelled from the force. We are conducting a dope test and all levels of police officers are being dope tested," said the police chief.
Noting that journalists can motivate billions of people, the IGP said, "You are an opinion builder...Journalists build opinions and the dynamics of society change a lot. You will criticise us constructively."
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, CRAB President Abul Khair, General Secretary Asaduzzaman Biku and others were present in the AGM. Crab members were also present.
Rab DG Mamun said journalists have acted as front-liners with information to raise public awareness about the risks involved.
