Covid-19: 16 die, 785 infected, 833 recover in 24 hours

Sixteen people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,734 and the death rate stands at 1.49 percent.

At least 785 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 5,20,690, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 5.74 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.63 percent.

A total of 13,681 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 833 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 4,65,279 and the recovery rate at 89.36 percent.

Among the 16 deceased, 13 were men and three were women. Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, one between 41-50, 14 were above 60 years old, added the release.
