A Dhaka court today granted ad-interim bail to Erfan Salim, son of Awami League MP Haji Md Salim, in two cases filed for possessing walkie-talkies and foreign liquor.

Additional District Magistrate of Dhaka, Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, passed the order on condition that Erfan will appear before the court every week in connection with the cases, Erfan's lawyer Pran Nath told The Daily Star.

On October 26, last year, a mobile court of Rab handed six months' imprisonment to Erfan for keeping the walkie-talkies illegally and the other six months for possessing the illegal liquor.

The mobile court handed down the punishment after recovering walkie-talkies and bottles of foreign liquor during a raid at Erfan's home in Dhaka's Chawkbazar.

During today's hearing, Erfan's lawyer Pran Nath submitted two appeals before the court against the conviction.
