Former NCC Bank vice chairman Khondkar Zakaria Mahmud no more
Former vice chairman and sponsor director of NCC Bank Khondkar Zakaria Mahmud (Bachchu) passed away yesterday while undergoing treatment at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok. He was 74.
Zakaria Mahmud, son of late Khondkar Masudar Rahman and a resident of Embassy Road in Dhaka's Baridhara, was suffering from multiple complications related to lung cancer.
In his long business career, Zakaria Mahmud also served as managing director of Home Creations Ltd., and of Subarna Trading Company Limited, a renowned trading company in Bangladesh. He was also sponsor trustee of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
He left behind his wife Yasmine Mahmud, son Farshed Mahmud, daughter Faarzein Mahmud, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren to mourn his demise.
His body will be brought to Dhaka in the early hours of Saturday, July 25, and will be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard in the capital after his Namaz-e-Janaza at Azad Mosque in Gulshan-2 after Asar prayers on the same day.
All relatives, friends and well-wishers of Zakaria Mahmud are requested to attend the janaza and pray for eternal peace of his departed soul.
Social distancing measures will be strictly followed during the janaza, and masks and hand sanitisers will be distributed to those who need it.
