Highest turnover in stock market in a decade

Turnover of the Dhaka bourse stood over Tk 2,500 crore today -- highest in last one decade.

The major indicator of the stock market rose 16 percent, to Tk 2,546 crore, led by telecom and pharmaceuticals sector.

On June 28 last year, the DSE witnessed turnover of Tk 2,543 crore due to share transfer of GlaxoSmithKline to Unilever.

Stocks of Robi Axiata was top of the turnover list today -- traded Tk 256 crore, followed by Beximco Pharmaceuticals that traded Tk 164 crore, according to the Dhaka Stock Exchange data.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, dropped 42 points.
