Man 'kills wife, 5-month-old daughter' in Rajshahi

A man has allegedly killed his wife and five-month-old daughter in Rajshahi's Puthia upazila last night. 

Police recovered bodies of Poly Begum, 23, and her daughter Fariha from their house in Fakirpara area of Gopalhati village and sent the bodies to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station.

He said Firoz Mandal, 35, was a drug addict and allegedly killed Poly and Fariha sometime between 10:30pm and 11:30pm while he was trying to take away his wife's gold jewellery.

Feroz was arrested from Gabtoli bus stand in Dhaka around 5:00 am. He fled from home last night, the police official said. 

He has been kept at Darussalam Police Station and a police team has been sent to Dhaka to bring him to Rajshahi, our staff correspondent reports.
