A TRADER SHOWS A HILSA
A trader shows a hilsa, weighing about 2.5 kg, at the wholesale fish market in the capital’s Karwan Bazar yesterday. He was asking Tk 3,500 for the fish. Prices of hilsa have dropped in the city in recent weeks amid good supply. Officials say production of the national fish has increased significantly in recent years due to some government measures, including ban on fishing hilsa during spawning season and hilsa fry for eight months a year.
