Minor girl raped in Brahmanbaria, rapist arrested

A nine-year-old girl was raped by a rickshaw puller in Shonarampur village under Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria last night.

Police arrested the alleged rapist, Litan.

Quoting the family members, police said Litan, known by the victim's father, took the minor to a remote place when she was playing at their house. Litan then raped her and fled the scene.

Being informed by the victim's friends, family members rescued the girl and took her to a nearby hospital where she is undergoing treatment, police said.

Md Javed Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashuganj Police Station, said they arrested the culprit immediately after conducting a drive.

The OC informed that legal action will be taken against the culprit.
