Nature Study Society of Bangladesh celebrates 22nd anniversary

The Nature Study Society of Bangladesh (NSSB) celebrates its 22nd anniversary at EMK Center in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi.

The Nature Study Society of Bangladesh (NSSB) has celebrated its 22nd anniversary at EMK Center in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi.

A seminar on “Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation in Bangladesh” was held at the venue to mark the occasion on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

The programme was presided over by Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, chairman of NSSB, while Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque, vice-chancellor of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) was present as the chief guest at the event.

Professor Dr ANM Aminoor Rahman of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University was the key note speaker in the seminar.     

Special guests at the programme who spoke on different aspects of nature and its conservation were: M Zakir Hossain, senior program manager, DFG of TIB; Azharul Islam Khan, admin, Toruchaya; and Dr Jebunnessa, chairman of the Department of Public  Administration at Jahangirnagar University (JU).

The Daily Star was the media partner of the event.

A non-political voluntary organisation dedicated to the study and conservation of nature and wildlife, NSSB was formed on August 30, 1996, with a few enthusiastic members of Notre Dame Nature Study Club (est. at Notre Dame College in 1984).

Since then the organisation has been working for the collection and circulation of facts and knowledge about nature and wildlife, training members and motivating mass people in conservation concerns.
