The mother of the O-level student, who was raped before her death on Thursday, today alleged that the investigation into the case was partial towards the accused, Fardin Iftekhar Dihan.

The mother of the O-level student, who was raped before her death on Thursday, today alleged that the investigation into the case was partial towards the accused, Fardin Iftekhar Dihan.

"Considering everything, it seems to us that they are getting special benefits from the beginning," the aggrieved mother told The Daily Star.

She claimed that it took a long time to do the autopsy, saying that though the body was sent to the morgue in the evening on the day of the incident, it was done the next day.

She also said that although the police mentioned her daughter's age as 19 in the inquest report, it was 17 according to her birth certificate, death certificate and passport.

The doctor asked the family to correct it with police help, but police came several hours later and the autopsy was done afterwards.

"We talked to the AC (assistant commissioner) of the police about the case. We wanted to know what he (the accused) had confessed to. They said they will let us know, but it has been two days. I do not understand what's going on," she told The Daily Star.

According to the victim's mother, the case statement was written hurriedly, as a lot of time had already been spent in the hospital.

She also said the family wanted to name all four youths present as accused in the case because when Fardin called her, he said that there were four of them at home.

"I also saw four people in the hospital," she added, claiming that police suggested not to name the three others as accused until the medical report came and said their names would be added if their involvement is found later, she said.

"…But now I have seen everything. I saw the medical report. My child had been severely abused. This torture is not possible by one person," she said, adding she saw injury marks on her daughter's waist and back. She suspected that her daughter was first drugged and made unconscious.

She also, however, said while police have helped them, some mistakes were made.

Attempts are being made to show her daughter as an adult with wrong information, she again alleged.

She said her daughter had called her father at 12:19pm that day, but he could not receive the call as he was in a meeting. "Had he answered, things might not have gone so far."

Shozzodur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Ramna division of DMP, however, said, "Police is neither saving nor victimising anyone."

About the mistake regarding the age, he said, the case mentioned her age as 17 and the actual age will be ascertained after tests.

"There is no chance of police being biased; we are investigating impartially," the DC told The Daily Star today.

Asked why only Fardin is named as accused though the victim's family suspected the involvement of more people, Shozzodur said the victim's parents came with a lawyer and they filed the case against one person.

Asked about the release of the three other youths, he said they were interrogated and in primary investigation their involvement was not found. So, they were released after signing a bond.

"Investigation is going on and at any stage of the probe if involvement of the three and anyone else is found, legal action will be taken," he added.

Police said the private car in which the victim was taken to the hospital has been seized.

A neighbour said they had seen Fardin driving the car though he had no driving licence.

Fardin 's mother Sanjita Sarkar said he applied for a licence and she was not aware of whether he had gotten one or not.

Last November, Fardin and the victim got introduced through social media, the DC said.

DC Shozzodur claimed there was no pressure from anywhere and they were putting the highest importance to the investigation.
