The report over the death of Hefajat-e-Islam's former chief Shah Ahmad Shafi will be submitted on time as per the court directive, said Iqbal Hossen, Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

He came up with the comment while visiting Al Jameyatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Madrasa, commonly known as Hathazari Madrasa, today to probe into the case filed over the death of Shafi last year.

"We visited the places mentioned in the case statement and collected information, talking to relevant persons of the madrasa," said SSP Iqbal.

Earlier in the morning around 11:00am, a team of PBI led by the SSP and Chattogram PBI's SP Nazmul Hasan reached the madrasa.

Nazmul Hasan told our Chattogram correspondent that "As part of the investigation, we are here and talked to 15 to 16 persons, including Junayed Babunagari (current Hefajat ameer), related to the incident."

"We have visited spots and collected information. We also visited Babunagar of Fatickchari upazila as the spot mentioned in the case statement," SP Nazmul said.

However, Junayed Babunagri did not make any comment over the visit.
