Take precautionary measures to prevent spread of bird flu: Livestock ministry

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has directed the authorities concerned to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of bird flu in the country.
The ministry today issued a letter to the Livestock Department with the instructions.
In the letter, the Department of Livestock has been directed to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease and to protect public health following the recent outbreak of bird flu in neighbouring India.
It also directed for daily drive to detect bird flu, taking maximum precautionary measures in the bordering districts and intensive supervision on public-private farms.
At the same time, if any dead or sick poultry or bird is found, the ministry has instructed the authorities or people concerned to collect samples and test those quickly at the nearest lab, and take further action according to the test results.
