Tigers' performance

A befitting Eid gift to the nation
First it was Pakistan and then India and on Wednesday, it was South Africa that the Tigers snatched series wins in a very convincing manner.

First it was Pakistan and then India and on Wednesday, it was South Africa that the Tigers snatched series wins in a very convincing manner. It shows that the achievement is not a flash in the pan. Of the three, two are in the top bracket of ODI and test cricket rankings. And who would have thought that the Tigers would bounce back against the South Africans after being made to look pretty ordinary in the first ODI.

The Tigers have outplayed the South Africans in all departments of the shorter version game as the emphatic victory in Chittagong has demonstrated. To restrict a batting line up, that most bowling attack revere, to below two hundred in two consecutive encounters is no mean achievement. The conditions were same for both the teams, only Bangladesh was able to exploit it better.

We are noticing a transformation in Bangladesh cricket as the last one year's record of home series as well as the recent World Cup shows. Undoubtedly, a lot of hard work has gone into making what the team is today. It is heartening to see the element of self confidence mixing with individual skill and adroit captaincy exercised with aplomb. The Tigers can now stand up and be counted as a force in international cricket, certainly in South Asian cricket.

We would like to see a continuity of the winning streak. We are hopeful that the recent success in the limited over games will be reflected in the Tigers' performance in the forthcoming test matches against the South Africans.

Congratulations to the Bangladesh cricket team and everyone associated with it.
