I remember a memorable speech by Dr. H.R. Khan, while addressing a discussion on "Usage of native-resources to be self-developed " on the occasion of Independence Day, at Tangail Town Hall (Bhasani Hall) -- "So much we say about native-resources putting on 'Jeans' and carrying 'Benson' in the pocket , it will be just a futile exercise".

It is likely that FCTC(Framework Convention on Tobacco Control) or even Tobacco Control Law --2004 will not produce any positive results, unless we become conscious about self-harm or self-degradation. I think, smoking harms not the person who takes it, he/she just takes the smoke and blow it out, but the surroundings. So, we should give up the habit of doing harm to others.

I'm glad to learn about the restrictions imposed on the sale, distribution, consumption of tobacco in public places and advertisement of tobacco products in print and electronic media.

It is also remarkable that Bangladesh was the first among the South Asian signatories to FCTC, having signed it on May16, 2003 at the 5th World Health Conference in Switzerland.
