Alcohol consumption
This is in reference to the letter of Ahsan Ali, published in the DS on 10 March, 2004. In his letter, Mr. Ali stated that consumption of alcohol was supposedly common in major civilisations of earlier years and that in the modern times all providers of science, knowledge and philosophy are alcohol consumers. That is completely incorrect! Going through his letter, anyone would presume that alcohol is supposedly the main reason behind all these major achievements, which is absurd!
Alcohol destroys the heart of a person and subjects him to severe cardiac problems, which later even lead to death. It also leads to an immoral way of life, making most people do things they never wanted to before, like fighting and stealing. Consumption of alcohol has no positive effect whatsoever.
