Are we entering the age of Jahilia?
Islam is a religion of peace and strictly forbids such acts as were committed on the Ahmadiyyas at B'baria. The Quran forbids extremity and teaches us restraint and fairness to all. Allah's Prophet Muhammad (SM) during his last Hajj sermon had advised his followers to follow the path of Allah; to shun superstitious and unfair practices of Jahilia; to safeguard human lives and property.
Ahmadiyyas have every right to practise their faith just like the Sunnis, Shias, Boris, Wahabis, and others. The Quran teaches us tolerance towards others, and non-compulsion in religion. The anti-Ahmadiyya bigots are setting a bad example and giving a totally negative impression about the religion of peace, that is Islam. As a Muslim, I believe that Allah is the keeper of religion, and we as mere mortals, have no right whatsoever to declare who is a Muslim or who is not. The term Muslim means to submit to the will of Allah. Allah is the better judge, and may He guide us all. On part of the government, the PM must not ignore the B'baria incident as an ordinary criminal occurrence and must give directives to punish the culprits (who are already identified), and prove to the nation that she means what she says when speaking on communal harmony in Bangladesh. I would also appeal to all Islamic scholars and citizens of the country to address this issue rationally, whenever there is an opportunity, for discouraging violence and atrocities.
Let us seek guidance by reading the Quran more often, and may Allah enlighten us all towards establishing peace.
