Are we insane?

The news of same sex marriage, this time in America, captured the headlines of print and electronic media once again. The first same-sex-women-couple celebrated this long desired ceremony in the state of Massachusetts on 17 May 2004. It's not a surprise, this horrendous act of insanity has already been legitimised in a few states of Netherlands, Belgium and Canada. In the 21st Century, when our core values and ethics of humanity are aspired to progress towards rationality and perfection; such insane acts decelerate our positive thought-process and surely infect our conscience. The issue of marriage within the same sex is universally forbidden; undoubtedly it is an act of perversion irrespective of race, culture, religion and civilisation. Marriage is an institution that upholds the religious, cultural and social values of a society. It establishes the values that govern the transmission of human life to the next generation and the nurturing of that life in the basic societal unit, i.e. the family. Marriage also symbolises and protects the inherently reproductive human relationship; in simple terms, between a man and a woman, and it symbolises and engenders respect for the transmission of human life. But then, with the legitimate definition of same sex marriage in some societies, the institutional meaning of traditional marriage would be distorted, for same sex couple would no longer represent the relationship of opposite sex pair bonding. We are sad, disappointed and traumatised in observing such social practices. What lesson we intend to leave behind for our future generations? At this cross roads, we denounce those societies that made such provisions of insanity degrading the sacred man-woman legitimate bondage.
